Specialist Services
At The Dental Connection, we offer a number of specialist dental services. This means that our patients can receive all the care they need here, without the need to be referred elsewhere.

It can also mean that you will not need to go to hospital for treatment – so no lengthy waiting lists, and no day-long visits - just a simple appointment with people you already know and trust.

Periodontics (gum care)

Gum disease is very common, and if caught in its earlier stages is relatively easy to combat.

However, there are some patients who have a more advanced form of this disease, usually known as periodontitis, and who require specialist care. Without treatment, they are at risk of losing their teeth.

Our registered periodontic specialist has years of experience in his field, and can help patients with periodontitis to combat the disease and keep their teeth for life.

Prosthodontics

Prosthodontics is the dental speciality of replacing missing teeth. This can include more traditional solutions such as dentures, together with modern treatments such as implants.

Dental implants are increasingly popular with our patients, and for good reason. They are strong and permanent replacements for missing teeth, and look and feel so natural that you can even forget you have them!

The implants are tiny titanium posts which are gently inserted into your jawbone. Over time, the bone bonds with the posts, forming what is in effect a false tooth root. We then place a natural-looking crown onto the post, giving you a great-looking smile that also functions well.

Implants can also be used to hold dentures firmly in place, so you can eat and speak with confidence.

Our prosthodontic service is offered by a registered specialist, so you can be assured of the highest level of care.

Root Canal Treatments

Root canal treatment often has a bad reputation, but in fact it is a very effective way of saving a tooth which would otherwise have to be removed.

This treatment is needed when the roots of your teeth become infected, usually as a result of decay. This infection can cause an abscess, which can be extremely painful. If left untreated, the tooth will usually have to be extracted.

The procedure involves removing the infected material from your tooth roots, and then filling them. It can be a very fiddly job – the root canals are very thin and are not always straight, so it is usually best to have this treatment carried out by a specialist who has the necessary expertise and experience. Our root canal treatments are carried out by a registered specialist, assuring you of the highest level of care.

After root canal treatment, your tooth will often need to be strengthened with a crown.
